Hanli Geyser is the Head of Division of Digital Arts at the Wits School of Arts. She is both a lecturer in game design and a Ph.D. candidate at the Wits School of Arts. She was also a founding member and served on the inaugural steering committee of MakeGamesSA, an NGO and industry body for game development in South Africa. She developed and is coordinating and lecturing in the programs in game design at Wits University which kicked off in February 2012. Additionally, she designed and developed the BA Digital Arts degree, a four-year professional degree, offered by the University of the Witwatersrand from 2017. Her Ph.D. reflects on her work in higher education and examines the pedagogic framework for teaching game design in a South African context, focusing on curriculum transformation.
