Tyriq gives an overview of the basic skills for 2d character animation in games, providing examples from his own career's work as well as other prominent 2d games. He goes over the principles of animation - concepts like squash and stretch, anticipation and reaction, and arcs - and how they apply to games. He also discusses common beginner mistakes and how to avoid them, and various tools and pipeline considerations to make the most of artists' abilities.
