Map systems can be a core element of video games—specifically for games with vast worlds to explore. Conqueror's Blade is an online tactical action game with a medieval theme where players occupy cities in a vast continent and collect resources. To do this effectively, the map needs to present to players a lot of complex information.

This talk will show how Booming Tech accommodated for so much information on the map, allowing players to experience the complex and fantastic battlefield. Topics include: the presentation of multiple pieces of information, filtering that information for players, reducing cognitive costs, and rendering a wonderful battlefield atmosphere.

Takeaway

Attendees will learn methods and cases on designing and iterating map systems. This includes: How to make the multiple information uncomplicated and reduce the cognitive costs of players, distinguishing whether information needs to be added or reduced in the iteration, and methods and cases to create atmosphere and build a close relationship between players and the game.
