Are you a Noble teacher... or an accidental Overlord who wants to do better?

A survival guide to knowing when, how, and why you should engage in mentorship. Knowing who to do it for and the ways you will also learn from the process and make yourself an approachable, effective, respectful & sensitive advocate.

In this session, Emily Rose, Senior Producer at Otherside Entertainment, covers how to identify, connect with, listen to and maintain mentoring connections that will boost their confidence, allow individuals to reach excellence while centering the mentee and without reinforcing harmful lessons.

To teach future generations while leaving our baggage behind, and identify our own knowledge or experience gaps by broadening our own horizons long before we start these connections. It's critical we listen to their needs and apply our wisdom where it's wanted.

Takeaway

Attendees will learn how to navigate the ever-changing landscape of the industry and how to establish and maintain mentorship with those in need of growth and experience. Emily will cover how to curate lessons from the past, and recognize missing opportunities for the present and future generations of game development.

Intended Audience

This is for mid-to-senior game developers across any discipline looking to enhance their understanding of how to be an effective leader to those learning new ideas or unlearning past workplace trends. Mentorship is a core part of being a leader and is invaluable to anyone no matter how experienced.
