The style and presentation of a game's User Interface can act as an aesthetic foundation for the entire experience, bringing together different aspects of the game into a cohesive whole. Daanish Syed, Senior UI Artist at Netherrealm Studios, will walk through the creative process of finding the right thematic hook, developing a style guide, producing a wide variety of UI concepts, critically evaluating them from an aesthetic and functional perspective, and finally implementing them in game. Showcasing a wide array of early prototypes and unused UI concepts, Daanish will dive into the process of art direction and iteration in Mortal Kombat 11's UI.


Attendees will gain insight into the iterative process of UI Art Direction with a focus towards developing a cohesive thematic style.
