Maintaining a freelancing career can seem daunting, especially when it feels like you're surrounded by competition. How can you ditch this competitive feeling and instead prioritize forging open and collaborative relationships with your peers in audio? What’s the best way to advocate for yourself and your art, meet new developers, negotiate rates, and more? In this talk, one audio designer will share the lessons she's learned that have helped her feel confident and supported as an indie freelance artist.

Attendees will walk away from this talk with hands-on strategies they can use to build their own communities in-person and online, tips for negotiating happy collaborations with all kinds of developers, and a bigger-picture understanding of how ditching a competitive attitude is better (and healthier!) as a freelancer.

Intended Audience

This talk is directed towards audio designers in the early and mid-stages of their careers, but will have tons of lessons applicable to folks working in collaborative relationships of all kinds.
