On September 15, 2022, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed into law the California Age Appropriate Design Code Act. This new law, which takes effect July 1, 2024, places new legal obligations on companies with respect to online products and services that are "likely to be accessed by children" under the age of 18. Violators may be subject to a penalty of up to $2,500 per affected child for each violation, so penalties can be very severe if there is a large user base. Join us to learn the contents of the new law and how to meet such requirements, and understand what others are doing.
