'KeyForge' is a new kind of game that takes the fun of a traditional trading card game and gives it a unique twist by making making every deck in existence completely unique. But there are many new challenges and hurdles that come with figuring out how to actually make and print a procedurally generated card game! In this talk, Fantasy Flight Games lead developer Brad Andres will describe the major obstacles the team faced and overcame in bringing this game to life, and will outline the process by which 'KeyForge' decks are created.
Attendees will learn about the challenges involved in designing and developing a unique deck game and working with a new genre of game. They will also learn a bit about the internal systems that Fantasy Flight has employed to make a game like this possible.
This presentation is intended for system designers of all experience levels, as well as anyone interested in procedural generation and the challenges involved in implementing it in a physical capacity.
