Topic: UX Summit
Vault Recording: TBD
Audience Level: All
After many years building AAA console games for franchises such as 'Burnout', 'Battlefield', 'Star Wars', 'Harry Potter' and 'Split Second', James switched over to work in the mobile games space. This talk will explain how he tackled updating the user experience design for a live mobile product and improved early player retention. He will touch on how he helped facilitate a phased UX redesign roll out to an active worldwide player base, and discuss the value of constant community involvement, citing lessons from Pocket Gems' game 'War Dragons'.
This session will cover how the UX was successfully changed on an established free-to-play mobile title. It outlines the design thinking and processes that facilitated a potentially difficult maneuver for a live product. This resulted in improved key metrics, the user experience and avoided elder player churn.
Attendees of this talk will have a basic knowledge of mobile game development and likely have shipped at least one mobile game.
