The IGDA Game Devs with Kids SIG will present an open discussion on coding tools for teaching teens to code. If you have a child, giving them the opportunity to learn about technology and the way computers work will surely give them an advantage in life. Learning to code while they are young will set them up for a successful future. This roundtable will cover topics like when to introduce them to game development, what tools you can use, ways to introduce coding, and more. The goal is to provide a supportive environment to address the unique concerns of game developers who care for children, and answer questions for those considering joining us in the parenthood adventure, and promote visibility for parents in the industry.
The takeaway is for each attendee to leave with a better understanding of how to get their teen kids involved in the development process and engage them tool to expand their skillset and creativity.
This session is particularly aimed at developers with kids or those working with kids. The information given will be particularly relevant to game developers who are trying to find a balance between their development life and parenting with an emphasis on making games with kids.
