Let's talk about managing community managers! From the wide array of expectations on their shoulders to the health and safety issues surrounding the role, leading a person or team of community folks is a special kind of management. Explore the ins-and-outs with Astrid Rosemarin, Community Director at Saber Interactive, as we demystify the role with the aim of building better internal support for community staff across the industry.

Together, we will look at the practical considerations of supporting your community staff, including tools and resources, along with some of the more unspoken topics within our industry. This is a session for everyone from studio heads who are unfamiliar with community roles to middle managers to CMs themselves who are responsible for managing volunteer mods.

Takeaway

Session attendees will learn about effective remote and/or in-person management techniques including some dos and don'ts for 1x1s, group meetings, project management, tools, resources, and fitting into the broader development and publishing ecosystems that we work in and alongside.

Intended Audience

While this session will be geared towards people who are experienced industry professionals, community management experience is not required. Information will be tailored for those who are, or will be, managers of community staff regardless of their understanding of the trade.
