Choosing the proper progression for the right core gameplay is a genre defining decision during the lifecycle of each F2P mobile game. Recognizing and being able to understand different types of progressions often leads to a breakthrough game in it's genre category, evolving the category itself. Like a car mechanic modifying a part from one car to make a completely new car. Specific market examples of these successful combinations will be discussed to demonstrate how games are evolving in this direction.
Audience will become familiar with different types of core gameplay and progression combinations in order to help them decide which progression to chose after finishing their next core gameplay prototype. By understanding these elements they will be able to take one part from a game and apply it to the design of another game.
Intermediate level of game design knowledge is required as the talk will try to stay at abstract level of systems to better show the differences between specific combinations of core gameplay and progression in order to emphasize the iteration that was done by best industry examples.
