Use the Viewing Experience filter to see which sessions will be available on-site, on the virtual platform, or both:

  • In-Person: offered on-site, not available within the virtual platform. Check the session’s listing to see if it will be recorded for GDC Vault after the conference.
  • Virtual: offered in the virtual platform at its scheduled time.
  • In-Person/Virtual: offered onsite and the recording will be available to watch-on-demand within 36 hours of the session start time on the virtual platform until April 1st at 5pm PT

Animation Retargeting has been a challenge for many years in the industry while the demand of the diverse characters and use cases are immensely increasing outside of the traditional gaming industry (e.g. Synthetic Data Generation or Digital Twin). Downloading animations online is easy to do, and there is much research on generating those animations automatically, but applying them to a custom character can be challenging and it requires a huge technical understanding of rig, skeleton, and animation. Also there are very limited open options in the industry, and the quality ranges from low to high with many knobs and tweaks required from users. This talk will discuss how we tackled this problem in the Omniverse while aiming for an easy-to-use feature. Audience will be able to learn and understand the core algorithm, the challenges, and various features to maximize the use of the system.
