Born out of a gamejam, Hardspace: Shipbreaker entered into early access in June, with a substantial splash from press which were excited by its unusual game mechanics and fresh world.

Blackbird will share the process of creating the IP and its unusual gameplay as well as the rules and processes it implemented to “protect” the game from idea fatigue, other company opportunities and, ultimately, ourselves. We’ll talk about the various game studios we drew influence from in setting up our creative processes as well as external industries as well.


Attendees will gain an overview of what went into the creation of the original IP Hardspace: Shipbreaker, but also have several insights into how to structure their own studio to produce unusual, original games.
