Casual and Mid-core have very different monetization patterns, with each having their own unique strengths and weaknesses. How can we harness the strengths of one to maximize the player value of the other? Using data from mid-core game Animation Throwdown and casual idle games like AdVenture Capitalist, AdVenture Communist, and Idle Frontier, we look beyond mechanics and focus on some key differences in monetization strategy that can be leveraged to strengthen one another. In this talk we will cover ad placement and monetization, optimizing a content cadence that keeps players engaged, and how introducing competition in Idle games can increase overall player revenue.

You will gain a greater understanding of how spending habits differ between casual and mid-core games, and discover how to apply strengths of one to the other that increases overall player value.
