Use the Viewing Experience filter to see which sessions will be available on-site, on the virtual platform, or both:

  • In-Person: offered on-site, not available within the virtual platform. Check the session’s listing to see if it will be recorded for GDC Vault after the conference.
  • Virtual: offered in the virtual platform at its scheduled time.
  • In-Person/Virtual: offered onsite and the recording will be available to watch-on-demand within 36 hours of the session start time on the virtual platform until April 1st at 5pm PT
  • In-Person/Virtual Livestream: offered on-site and will be livestreamed to watch on the virtual platform at its scheduled time. The recording of the video will be available to watch-on-demand within 36 hours of the session start time on the virtual platform until April 1st at 5pm PT.

Ramon - Application materials:
This talk will cover some brief tips to set up the three important documents you’ll need for most applications: A CV, a cover letter, and a portfolio. Since starting developers can be unsure about what to add in their CV or cover letter, a few ideas about structure and focus will be discussed, and advice will be given to make your portfolio as good as possible.

Jonas - Application Process :
In this section of the microtalk Jonas is going to talk about the application process for their first job in the games industry. Jonas is going to touch on how to discover the right opportunities to apply to and how to investigate whether they might be a good fit. Likewise, they will discuss how to approach job interviews and design tests, to make a good impression on the hiring manager.

Adinda- Indie Game Development:
This micro talk is all about understanding what it takes to become an indie developer. First about the mental obstacles and how to keep motivated. As a lot of people in our industry have different experiences, Adinda bundles advice from indie developers all over the world to share how others took this adventurous path.

Roni - Starting Your Journey :
This microtalk will go over starting your journey into the games industry and some tips on what that starting point might look like whether it be school, volunteering, or moving from an entirely different career. As everyone’s path is different, it is important to understand all of your options and pick one that best suits you.

Mascha - Finding the Right Way For You:
In this section, Mascha will speak about finding the right way for you to get into the industry.
Listening to your gut and respecting your mental health along the way.
Mascha will also cover topics like safe spaces and imposter syndrome.

Takeaway

Attendees will gain insight into the experiences of a diverse panel of industry professionals.
