Game content production is costly and time consuming. The consumption of game content is much faster than the rate of production, especially in game level. As a result, there is a strong demand for low-cost generation of large amounts of game levels. There are many procedural content generation approaches to generate game levels, such as constructive based, search based and machine learning based. However, most of these methods lack playing experience modeling, including difficulty, tempo, etc. These values are hard to calculate before running the game, but can be obtained through the use of an AI bot to simulate the game result. This talk will introduce how to leverage AI bot to generate game levels considering playing experience, including demonstration using a self-developed 2D mini game. Using AI bot can automatically generate a mass of levels evaluated on playability, quality and diversity. In addition, it can adjust the difficulty based on dynamic playing. Finally, the talk will demonstrate how collaborative generation between user and AI through a game level editor tool.
The attendee will be inspired by some ideas about how to use game AI to assist game development such as game content generation and testing.
This presentation is intended for researchers, developers and designers who are interested in deep learning in game and application of game AI.
