Topic: Design

Format: Roundtable

Vault Recording: TBD

Audience Level: All

This round table is a place for narrative professionals to exchange best practices and share concerns over their role in game development. Over 60 minutes of conversation, attendees will discuss their techniques for achieving success working in game narrative. They will also share challenges and partake in the collective experience of the attendees to find solutions to issues that may be affecting them professionally. There will be three sessions, each with a separate focus. The first session will be Professional - getting into the industry, building portfolios and interacting with team members successfully. The second will be Techniques - best practices for dialog, story, character development and so on. And the third will be Conceptual - addressing new narrative challenges such as writing for VR, writing for open worlds and more.

Takeaway

Ideally attendees will take away a list of best practices for improving both their writing and their ability to work and communicate with development teams.

Intended Audience

The intended audience is game writers and game narrative professionals, with a secondary audience of those who deal with writing/narrative focused developers on a daily basis.
