What is GRUX and how did GRUX start? What does the GRUX field look like now and what has that looked like at both the AAA and indie level? Where is it headed? Presented by the Games Research and User Experience (GRUX) SIG IGDA this roundtable will be run in a single group setting and discuss what GRUX is, what the industry looks like today compared to where it has been, what it looks like in a AAA setting vs an indie setting, and where it’s headed.

Takeaway

This roundtable is for both newcomers and advanced games research and user experience (GRUX) professionals alike, but will more heavily focus on working games user researcher (GURs) and challenges they have faced/obstacles they've overcome as the industry has grown over the years and continues to do so. Ultimately, we want attendees to come away with a high-level understanding of what GRUX is, how it has evolved, and where it's headed.

Intended Audience

Working or former games user research (GUR) professionals and those who work with GURs or in related fields, such as UX Designers, Academics, professional game developers, beginners in their games research and user experience career/those wanting to break in, and anyone who wants to know more about research in the games industry.
