One of the fundamental values employees expect from their workplace is transparency. The landscape of the video game industry is always evolving, and employers must break old habits and put trust in their staff if they expect trust in return.

In this talk, Heidi Eaves, COO of Relic Entertainment, will discuss the tools, policies, and processes learned over a career dedicated to managing people and teams. Heidi will talk about how to make a studio of over 300 people feel intimate, open, and honest—and the wins, obstacles, and learnings made along the way.

Topics will include the language used in job postings and hiring process, the internal career matrix designed to illustrate what career progression at Relic looks like and how to provide feedback to staff, and the commitment that the Senior Leadership Team has made to cultivating an open environment where people can ask questions and provide honest feedback.

Attendees will leave with a greater understanding of the ways that a studio of over 300 staff can implement the core value of transparency across a workplace, and how it's used to build and maintain trust. Attendees will get insight into tools and processes, as well as ideas on how to increase transparency and trust within their own workplace.

Intended Audience

This is for those in the games industry who manage products, and/or people and are interested in how a mindset of transparency translates into effective and healthy tools, policies, and processes for hiring, employee growth and retention, and an overall positive and engaging studio culture.
