How do you effectively re-imagine classic music themes into new personalization content versions (skins)? Following the example of League of Legends' Jhin character, composer Edouard Brenneisen demonstrates how he takes a player favorite music piece and brings it into sci-fi/electronic music territory, as well as create a post-Romantic-string-quartet-meets-sound-design incarnation.
More than merely remixing or re-arranging the music, Edouard extracts the essence of the theme and its emotional resonance and projects it into the alternate fantasies of the League universe. With strategies on defining the music identity of a champion and preserving it through new iterations, to assessing the right flavor and matching musical options for a particular skin line, the session showcases numerous supporting audio and video examples.
Attendees will gain insight into the strategies and mindset embraced by the Riot music team in expanding one of their classic themes into impactful re-imaginations, fulfilling the promise of the skin fantasies they serve.
