Markers can add a new layer of detail to your game. This talk will go over how to add markers to a .wav file and how to read those markers in the Unity engine. Why add markers to your music files? Markers can be read in game engines and that data can be used. During this talk, Technical Sound Designer Max McCoy will go over potential uses such as modulating sound effects to represent the key of the music, music transitions, and how markers can inform game design such as triggering particles or animations.
Learn how to add markers to a file, detecting that file in the Unity engine, how to detect that file in middleware like Wwise and Fabric, and potential ways of using markers. Using this technique will allow attendees to use their new skill for anything they can dream up.
Game audio professionals, and students. Prerequisite knowledge would be how to use a DAW, very mild understanding of Unity, and a mild understanding of Wwise or Fabric. Game designers would also benefit as markers could be used for animations, particles, and other parts of game design.
