In this session attendees will discover new ways of executing game mechanics to carry evocative storytelling, using DON'T WAKE THE NIGHT (2019) as a primary example. The presentation will offer alternatives to verbal and in-game text storytelling, such as visual cues, passive narrative methods, and other forms of expressing story through game design.
Attendees will walk away with renewed methods for storytelling in order to design games with subtle and passive narratives in mind.
The ideal audience for this session will be game designers and narrative designers alike, as well as those interested in learning more about storytelling through game mechanics.
