This talk will be an overview of the different components needed to build the future of spatial computing. First, Unity's Timoni West will dig into how computers perceive the world, and current state of sensor-based tech. Then she'll dive into which event types are most useful or specific for AR. Spatial computing requires a reassessment of how humans interact with computers, so this lecture will cover inputs and modalities, from button presses to facial sentiment analysis.

Finally, Timoni will close with how to get to the future, both with developer tools, and an overview of the current state of hardware in 2019.

Takeaway

Attendees will walk away aware of the vast amount of data and work needed to create apps that can fluidly shift states every time the user steps into a new room. This talk covers the basics needed to start making a genuinely spatially aware application.

Intended Audience

Anyone who is interested in the future of spatial computing. This talk will not be very technical, but it will be very in-depth.
