Meta RL

Immersion is key when building for XR. Right out of the box, Meta's Presence Platform provides you with the tools and SDKs you need to immerse your players.

Discover how to quickly integrate natural-feeling interactions (with hands and controllers) and add HD haptics to your app with David Nelson and Andrew Lazdins. You can thrill your players with this one-two immersive punch. During this session we will introduce you to the Interaction SDK, its capabilities, how we’ve made it even easier to use by integrating it directly into the Unity editor, and show you how to add interactions to your app.

Our haptics discussion will begin with a concise 2-minute overview of the design and integration workflow using our tools, showing how you can quickly create most of your haptics in seconds. We'll also share haptic design guidelines, principles, and processes derived from popular apps like Asgard's Wrath 2, Beat Saber, and Max Mustard, so you can enhance those 'special moments' in your app.

Haptics We'll kick off with a concise 2-minute introduction to the haptic design and integration workflow using meta tools, demoing how you can quickly create the majority of your haptics in seconds. We will then deep dive into examples and lessons drawn from popular apps like Asgards Wrath 2, Beat Saber, First Hand and First Encounters as we teach you how to enhance those 'special moments' in your app by sharing a new set of haptic design guidelines, principles, and processes.

Developing for XR interactions and haptics is now easier with the improved Interaction SDK and the new Meta Haptics Studio. Attendees will learn how to use these tools to increase the interaction quality and immersion of their VR apps.

Intended Audience

Target audience is primarily Unity VR/AR developers. Knowledge of the Unity engine and basic knowledge of controller and hand input methodologies are helpful to understand the subject matter.

Haptics: Target audience is Sound Designers, Haptic Designers or Engineers interested in improving their haptic design skills.
