Ray Tracing is an exciting, fast-moving technology that enables realistic and physically accurate 3D graphics, notably in films, animation, and more recently in console games. With the latest Arm GPUs, Ray Tracing will be accelerated in mobile devices and used by developers to take their applications to the next level.
By simulating light as rays that interact with different surfaces in a scene, we can produce more accurate and stunning looking images in real time, immersing the users into the experience. This talk will introduce Ray Tracing with examples from Arm and Tencent Games, demonstrating different effects that can be achieved with the new Ray Tracing APIs offered by Vulkan on Android: realistic shadows, reflections, light refraction through glass surfaces, and global illumination.
Takeaway
Attendees for this talk will find out how to use the ray tracing feature in Immortalis-G715, as well as understanding best practices for implementing ray tracing and what ray tracing can do to enhance mobile gaming with the real-time global illumination solution - SmartGI, from Tencent Games.
Intended Audience
This is an all levels talk for game developers, technical artists and engineers who want to learn how to use ray tracing in mobile game development.
