In this session Andrew Quinn, Expert Sound Designer at Rocksteady Studios discusses side chain multi band mixing and the dynamic routing system that enabled Rocksteady to create a vibrant and exciting mix in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. The session discusses the aesthetic challenges and technical limitations that led to developing the multiband plugin and routing system. We will also dive into the mix pipeline in depth with detailed examples from Suicide Squad: KTJL and comparisons to traditional mixing.
Attendees will gain insight on how frequency aware mixing and dynamic routing of sounds can greatly improve the clarity of a complex mix. Attendees with a background in Audiokinetic's Wwise will gain some tips and tricks on how this can be set up in middleware.
This talk is for audio directors, sound designers, audio leads, composers. No prerequisite knowledge is required but a foundational understanding of game audio and Audiokinetic's Wwise middleware will enable the attendee to get the most out of the talk.
