In a perfect world, developers would have control over every transaction related to their game; but currently, grey markets are all too common in our industry. While these grey markets entice players with the opportunity to find a highly-desired item, or a new-release game at a discount, they're rife with fraud and, even in the best of circumstances, rob developers and creators of revenue for their hard work.

The solution however, is not to limit players further but to leverage blockchain technology to build inclusive player-owned economies, legitimizing grey markets and opening new doors of revenue for players and developers alike. The future of game entertainment will depend on closer ties between players, content creators, brands and developers, and blockchain delivers the power to transform these relationships and invite everyone to become true stakeholders in game economies and virtual worlds.

Takeaway

Attendees will walk away with a deeper understanding of blockchain and how it can transform player relationships and game economies. Developers will learn about the tools, principles and analytics powered by blockchain that will allow them to define what player-owned economies mean in their own games.

Intended Audience

Any developer, from indie to AAA, will benefit from this presentation; there are no prerequisites for understanding the content. This talk will cover the basics of blockchain and how it can be used to power universal economies through player ownership, providing a way to drive a healthy secondary economy beneficial to both players and creators.
