You've deployed your gameserver fleet, players are playing, but after launch you've had to limit the number of players in your game to 25 and limit your server tick rate to 30Hz because "that's all it can handle." Sound familiar?

Continuous profiling is fast becoming an incredibly useful tool for infraops and game developers as it gives real-time insight into what's happening on live gameservers. In this talk, Jordan Schidlowsky, CEO of Winterpixel Games, will take a deep dive into the technologies surrounding continuous profiling, and implement an engine agnostic solution alongside a production gameserver fleet. He'll show off how live eBPF call-stack sampling and flame-graph generation can tell you exactly where your cloud vCPUs are spending all of their cycles.

Takeaway

Attendees will learn how to deploy a continuous profiling solution for gameservers with readily available open source tooling.

Intended Audience

This is for technical leaders, infrastructure operators, developers, and anyone involved in deploying or running cloud gameservers.
