'Pode' has, since its release in June 2018, been praised for its visuals, mood and atmosphere. In this lecture game director Yngvill Hopen will talk about the philosophy and inspiration behind the visual design goals of 'Pode', and how they were affected by (and in turn affected) the game design and mechanics. She will also touch on the challenges of designing a game for all age groups, and how that was achieved in 'Pode'.
Attendees will gain insight into the visual development of 'Pode', and how traditional Norwegian art and cultural influences helped shape the atmospheric world in which it takes place. They will also get an understanding of the biggest challenges the team faced during development, and how they approached and overcame them.
The lecture is mainly intended for creatives and artists, but it is accessible for people of all fields with no previous knowledge of visual development.
