Traditionally, Quality Assurance (QA) in the gaming industry hasn't had access to sufficient tools and technology. In this presentation, Christoffer Holmgård will discuss some of the most pressing automation needs identified by QA teams. He will also share the case study of how Die Gute Fabrik used AI to automate game playing for a narrative game. The presentation will dive into common QA challenges that automation can address and the implementation of game-playing AI bots. Additionally, it will explore the resulting impact on the game development process.

Takeaway

This talk discusses challenges that Quality Assurance teams can tackle with the help of AI. Attendees will gain insights from real-life examples of implementing AI testing into action and narrative games. Attendees will learn effective strategies for automating game testing by integrating AI with game systems they are already building.

Intended Audience

Quality Assurance (QA) specialists and managers, SDETs, and generalist game developers will benefit from this practical, but deep, walkthrough of how AI automation can be used to support QA. Anyone who's ever been part of testing a game (which is likely everyone!) can find something of interest in this talk.
