Real money game design must navigate the ever present challenge that losing is the most common experience for players. And we’re talking about losing money – not just reloading a level and trying again. This open roundtable discussion will dig into this design challenge, with attendees sharing their successes and failures and debating best practices to make their future games awesome.

Whether it’s a game of chance or a head-to-head skill contest, the reality is that most players will lose more often than not. A highly skilled player might dominate their head-to-head games and rarely lose. But what about all the other players who make that experience possible? Are they destined to be unhappy cannon fodder who must be endlessly replaced? We’ll be talking about this in this roundtable.

Intended Audience

Game developers of all levels interested in real money games and curious about the unique challenges of designing for games where the most common experience is losing.
