Pixel art has been a staple of the aesthetic of games since the very earliest days of the industry, and has continued to evolve alongside innovations in technology and gameplay. In this session, we'll go over some techniques and best practices for approaching pixel art and animation for contemporary games, explore some of the tools that are available to artists, and discuss some of the more innovative ways pixel art can be incorporated into games with a modern bent.
Joel Couture, Contributing Editor of Gamasutra, will be joining this session as moderator.
Attendees will come away with a grasp of techniques involved in creating pixel art animations, and a better vision of the future of pixel art in a world less restricted by the limitations of hardware than ever before.
