Disability is not a bad word—so, why is ableism thriving in fantasy and roleplaying games? The tabletop roleplaying game (TTRPG) community continues to bring their negative perspective of disability to tables and comment sections near you, and disabled gamers are over it. Let's shift the perspective of disability together!
In this session, Rachel Voss, Co-Founder at Forge Ahead: A Party To Access, will discuss disability representation, as well as what causes disability in a society. Attendees will see how to design authentic disabled characters and their epic mobility aids, and learn how to design mechanics, items, and materials using the Curb Cut Effect.
Takeaway
Attendees will experience authentic disability representation, gain an understanding of what causes disability in a community, and learn how to design accurate characters with disabilities and their mobility aids.
Intended Audience
This is for game designers and researchers who want to increase disability representation in their games.
