With the rise and golden era of tabletop roleplaying games, a strange marriage has occurred in the pairing of internet live streaming and pen and paper roleplay. This evolution has created a new culture that encourages performative roleplay in front of a live audience.
The technologies that are utilized to produce these games are varied depending on the style of gameplay, budget available, and abilities of the team that are producing it. Much of the infrastructure has been hacked and duct-taped together to create many of the shows that you see in the market today—even the largest groups are constantly reinventing their processes to achieve greater immersion and audience interaction.
Noxweiler Ignatius Berf, Creative Director at Hunters Entertainment, will moderate a panel that explores the current and future operations within a liveplay production, and discuss his experience with groups like Critical Role, Dimension 20, Geek and Sundry, Hyper RPG, and other channels and content creators.
Takeaway
Attendees will gain insight into the processes that are used to produce immersive, audience interactive storyteller and gameplay, and learn about the past and the potential future innovations that are yet to come. Technology, producing systems, and performance styles will all be discussed.
Intended Audience
This is for anyone interested in tabletop liveplay and the technology around it—whether seeking to produce a liveplay or just wanting to appreciate the behind-the-scenes magic.
