David Abecassis was the Lead Designer on Teamfight Tactics from inception until ship. In this session he shares lessons from the extremely rapid five month development of TFT, including how to approach product discovery, how to characterize an audience and use that characterization to make design decisions, and how to lead teams to take real risks and make necessary pivots even when deadlines loom.


Attendees gain practical techniques and terminology they can apply on their own projects, and be inspired to take risks effectively and appropriately. Learn how to approach discovery, sensemaking, and audience selection with urgency by making decisions quickly, and how to structure a team to promote autonomy and personal agency.

Intended Audience

This session is intended for developers working in uncertain spaces with tight timelines, but with a will to challenge genre conventions and take risks. There are no formal prerequisites, but the talk will be most relevant to those working in design and product disciplines.
