The Snowdrop Tech Art and Animation team is building a DCC Tools Framework for use in many productions at Ubisoft. To accommodate the many different workflows, preferences, and production philosophies, these tools need to work in as many contexts as possible.

In this talk, the team will discuss how they developed a framework for animation pipelines that works in multiple DCCs and without relying on pre-made rigs, and is easily extendable by projects. The team will also dive into some of their underlying modules for metadata and UI generation, as well as what challenges they faced in making a shareable toolset.

Takeaway

Attendees will learn about the benefits of a DCC agnostic codebase and workflow, as well as what a truly data driven asset and rigging pipeline can look like.

Intended Audience

This is for technical artists, technical animators and pipeline TDs working on DCC Tools, interested in auto rigging, scene setup, and interoperability.
