Join us as we deep-dive into a post mortem for Metal:Hellsinger, a rhythm fps that plays like a mix between Beat Saber and DOOM, with a full on metal soundtrack featuring singers from famous bands such as Arch Enemy, Trivium, Soilwork, Dark Tranquillity, Black Crown Initiate and many more. In a game where every player action, down to to the speed of reloading and firing your gun, are matched to the BPM of the music, a great deal of power landed with us at Two Feathers, and with great power comes great responsibility. When something so simple as music tempo heavily impacts the core gameplay mechanics, it's up to the music composers to set the pace of the game. Welcome to listen in on how we tackled changing BPM per level, having reactive music to gameplay, make reactive gameplay to music and working with famous metal singers.

Attendees will get a thorough post-mortem on a new genre with few current contenders but with a booming future as the list of "X meets rhythm-games" grows longer every year. Participants will get a deep-dive into our music interactive systems, audio programming, sound design pipeline, technical implementation and how our audio decisions impacted the design direction. They will learn how we pitched our concept and music to famous metal singers starring in the soundtrack, from bands such as Trivium, Soilwork, Dark Tranquillity, Black Crown Initiate and Arch Enenemy etc.

This talk is for the intermediate or industry veteran Music Composers, Sound Designers, Game Designers and Programmers that are interested in rhythm based gameplay and its interaction with music and sound.
