Audio Director at Naughty Dog, Robert Krekel, will lead you through the philosophy, culture, technology, and techniques used to shape the audio of games at Naughty Dog. This Lecture will use specific examples from the Last of Us Part II to illustrate both our creative and technical approach to solving audio challenges in our games. A lot of focus will be spent on how our audio systems are tied to every other system in the game and how we use that data to drive dynamic sound design. Finally there will be a deep dive into the mixing process that ties all these different systems together into a cohesive whole.


Attendees of this talk will gain insight into the process of what it takes to ship game like The Last of Us Part 2. With specific focus on data driven sound design and dynamic sound mixing.

Intended Audience

The intended audience are game audio professionals but could also be extended to production. No prerequisites but familiarity would game audio terms would aide with understanding.
