Tools Summit: Seret: The 'Cosmonious High' Custom VO System

Daniel Perry  (Audio Director, Owlchemy Labs)

Pass Type: All Access Pass, Summits Pass

Topic: Programming

Format: Lecture

Vault Recording: TBD

Audience Level: All

Owlchemy Labs started work on Cosmonious High following their work on Vacation Simulator. After setting up the goals of what the team wanted to achieve in the game, they realized that, to reach our scoped dialogue goals, they had to create a more efficient and robust pipeline. Something that would allow them to iterate faster and save time on all the processes that can be automated along the way.

That's how they came up with Seret: an internal narrative/audio pipeline system and tool. In this talk, Daniel Perry, Audio Director at Owlchemy Labs, will discuss designing and developing Seret, and the challenges that came along in production that brought added features and functionality to it.

Takeaway

Attendees will gain insight into Owlchemy Labs' internal workflow and pipeline, and gain ideas on how a small team can develop a highly polished and fully voice-acted game. Attendees will also see the challenges and solutions to the pipeline that were developed during Cosmonious High's production phases.

Intended Audience

This is for tool programmers, audio/voice directors, and developers who are actively involved in the development of dialogue pipelines in their game environments.
