Cultural movement and video game studio ZA/UM's first technical hire talks about translating the work of classically trained oil painters to the video game medium over the course of 4 years of personal and collective growth. Starting from a place of unwavering ambition and a blatant lack of technical experience, the talk will be showcasing the very first concept art and renders to the final unique set of streamed texture maps in the beautifully lit and weathered isometric RPG.

Takeaway

Attendees will learn of an approach for producing hand painted and dynamically lit backgrounds for an isometric RPG, the methods used and lessons learned in the process of building it from the ground up.
