There are two fundamentally different ways that the word "motivation" is used in the game industry‚ÄĒthe Universals approach vs. the Differentiators approach. In this talk, we'll walk through these two different worldviews, the questions they're each better suited to address, how practitioners might implement these two approaches, and specific data-driven case studies of how the Differentiators approach yields different data/insights from the Universals approach.
Attendees will learn about two related approaches to analyzing gaming motivations, potentially add to their toolbox of user research/marketing analysis tools, and learn some market insights from data-driven case studies using one of these approaches.
