Audience Level: All

Craig Wells, Senior Director of Operations, will share Super Evil Megacorp's journey in creating Vainglory's cross-platform experience. Taking an established mobile-first game and bringing it to desktop to create a post-platform experience presents a number of challenges, ranging from technical issues, team composition, business considerations, and more. Craig will cover the decision making process, development, and ultimately the commercially challenging launch of Vainglory's post-platform experience. Come learn what challenges SEMC faced, what they did to mitigate (or not mitigate) those challenges and fundamentally what those challenges mean for SEMC and other teams building post-platform games and experiences.

Takeaway

Attendees will learn about SEMC's take on a Post-Platform world for games and how they implemented that vision and strategy by broadening an established game, Vainglory, to a new platform. Attendees will learn of the challenges SEMC faced in this undertaking and will be better prepared to handle them as they develop their own post-platform strategy and experiences.

Intended Audience

This presentation is aimed at a general audience who are interested in Games as a Service (GaaS) and how they evolve and move onto new platforms. No prerequisite knowledge is needed, but we will be covering topics ranging from distribution, to tech stack, to process and team management.
