Video game history is in trouble! As our industry moves rapidly toward new technologies like streaming and games-as-service, archivists are having a harder and harder time capturing our work and making sure it's still accessible to future generations. And due to our industry's inherent secrecy, we're in danger of losing not just the games we made, but our stories.

GDC presents a unique opportunity to bring people from all disciplines together to discuss preservation problems and their potential solutions, so let's get together and figure it out! This roundtable is open to anyone, from students to CEOs and everything in-between.

Takeaway

Attendees will come away from this roundtable with a greater understanding of what's being done in the world of preservation - and more importantly, what isn't. Preservation only happens if we all work together, so come contribute your voice to the discussion and get inspired to help!

Intended Audience

Absolutely anyone interested in ensuring the preservation of video game history, whether or not they think they can help.
