This session is covering the formation and founding of Beyond-FX. Nick McElmury will be discussing some of the finer points around what it took to get an offsite, realtime VFX studio off the ground and running smoothly. He will cover some of the challenges faced around getting the studio running, best practices learned along the way in client facing communication, internal communication and how they operate on a day to day basis to keep the studio healthy.


Attendees will gain an understanding of how Beyond-FX started from a lunch time conversation, and turned into a full fledged remote VFX studio. They will learn work practices to both embrace and avoid when working offsite in the games industry, and how VFX fits into the remote production pipeline.

Anyone who is, or is considering working in the real time industry as a VFX artist of any skill level. Studios who are interested in expanding their VFX team, or are working with remote contractors and outsourcing houses.
