This talk focuses on fundamental shader concepts and tricks that are used to create stylized VFX without the need for hand drawn animations or fancy simulations.

Using practical examples, VFX artist Veer, will go over some techniques that can be used as part of your foundational shader library to easily integrate into stylized VFX assets, allowing for easy prototyping and iteration.

These concepts can then be layered onto each other to create more intricate effects.


Attendees will gain a higher level understanding of the concepts required to create shader based stylized effects. Using practical examples, they will gain an insight into how certain VFX were created using these principles.

Intended Audience

Entry level to intermediate Realtime VFX artists who would like an intro to the fundamental techniques and shaders used to create stylized VFX. Knowledge of 3D packages, texturing software and game engines would be beneficial to gain the most out of this talk.
