Crack developers wreak havoc on gamers. Whether by creating cheat codes, cloning apps, or launching bot net attacks, a single crack in a game's defense can result in the loss of customers, a loss or revenue, or even loss of IP. Amir Amitai, Director of Threat Research at Digital.ai, has experience as both a crack developer and a defender of games. He knows how the bad actors think and he knows how to defend against them. In this session, Amir will describe some of the techniques he has seen and used to crack games firsthand. He'll go on to show how game vendors can "Shift Left" or integrate security into their products as part of the development process. Amir will describe why "Shifting Left" is sometimes even more important than adding security after a game is developed.
Attendees will learn about common gaming security gotchas and cheating trends, will gain an understanding of traditional protections, and learn about some of the ways in which protections can be built directly into their game binaries.
The session will be available to both in-person and virtual attendees.
Anyone who involved in game development including coders, security practitioners, DevOps and/or DevSecOps owners will gain insights from this session. Knowledge of agile development, DevSecOps, and CI/CD processes is helpful but not a pre-requisite for attendance.
