Deciding to go into games from another (possibly more stable) career can often be a daunting choice. Why would anyone want to do it, and how can you make the move in a way that is optimal and sustainable? This panel is comprised developers who took a range of different paths into games. We'll discuss how and why we made the leap into games, some useful tips for getting in the door, and some practical next steps for maximizing your chances of success on the other side of those studio doors.


Attendees will learn to identify their non-technical skill sets, and understand how those skills apply in various roles in a game studio environment. They will also learn practical tips to prepare for a career change, as well as techniques for marketing those skills to games studios to enhance their opportunities for moving into a game career.

Intended Audience

The intended audience for this talk is people currently in other career paths who have considered entering the games industry but didn't know how to start. It would also be applicable to students looking for their first game job, or relatively new people in the industry looking for mobility within a studio.
