Paolo Armao is a sound designer with 15+ years of experience in video games, film, and animated movies, currently working as Audio Director at 34BigThings. He approaches his work with a particular eye on experimental audio recording techniques and creative solutions in sound effects production, always aiming to support the audio-visual experience by creating emotional connections. Armao was invited speaker at the GameSoundCon 2019, and in the recent past has lectured at universities across Europe and Asia. He lectures at the Animation Department at the Italian National Film School, sharing his approach on sound design to support concept and story development. He was also the founder and Sound Design faculty at Experimental Film Virginia, where the focus is to support films that investigate the intersection between sound and movement. His approach to design for sound encompasses the total experience: a function of physics, mathematics, and psychology. It is based in theory and functional mechanics but comes full circle with instinct, creativity and the process of collaboration.
