Batu Aytemiz is a Ph.D. student at the University of California, Santa Cruz. His research primarily focuses on using AI techniques to make videogames better teachers because the common state of game tutorials is abysmal. He is interested in combining learning sciences and AI techniques in commercial videogames to make games more inclusive, accessible, and engaging. His drug of choice is reinforcement learning, and he has worked at Ubisoft Montreal, La Forge, and Microsoft Research Game Intelligence Lab. He has a rule of doing at least two game jams a year to expand his game development practice and he is also the vice director of ÜNOG (https://unog.dev/), the biggest game development group in Turkey.
